Cats Auditions

Lindsey Broughton

Well it’s that time of year again – we have embarked upon the audition process for the school production of “Cats”.

I always expect to be really impressed by the standard of performance displayed by the High Storrs students but I can say, without any exaggeration whatsoever, we were absolutely blown away by the sheer level of talent this year.

This is going to be an extremely difficult show to cast – we are spoiled for choice!

So, what is Cats about?

Cats is inspired my T. S. Eliot’s Old Possum’s Book of Practical Cats, a book of poetry written in 1938. The poems tell the stories of a number of different cats who come together at the Jellicle Ball, where a wise old cat – Old Deuteronomy – chooses a cat to be reborn on the Heavyside Layer and come back to live a new, better life.

Cats is the West End’s longest running musical and is soon to be released as a film starring Dame Judy Dench, Idris Elba and Taylor Swift to name but a few. But who will the High Storrs stars be?!
