It is a very happy morning High Storrs school where we are celebrating 67% A*-B grades and nearly 40% A*-A grades – both percentages are higher than 2019. Students have achieved great success across the board with strong grades in all subjects and from all starting points. Head of Sixth Form, Laura Newell said ‘we are so proud of our broad curriculum and inclusive offer that allows students to succeed in such a wide range of subjects including 3 languages, a strong science and maths offer and a range of creative subjects. And we are equally proud of the hard work and tenacity of our students and staff to achieve an average grade of a B in 720 exam entries.’ 

The overall pass rate was very high at 99.4%. Headteacher Claire Tasker noted ‘It has been quite a rocky road to this day for our 234 students who have navigated years of disruption and change but today they achieve wonderful results that will open so many doors for the future. Most students have achieved their choice of university places and others have secured places at prestigious dance, drama, music, and art schools’.

GCSE RESULTS 2023

High Storrs students, staff and families are celebrating excellent GCSE results this year. 246 Y11 students achieved fabulous results across a wide range of subjects and 42% of all grades were the top grades of 7, 8 and 9! In total High Storrs students achieved a whopping total of 240 grade 9s. Over 90% of High Storrs students achieved the all-important grade 4s in English and Maths and over three quarters achieved grade 5s in both English and Maths.

Director of Key Stage 4, Tom Highnett was thrilled. ‘We are so proud of our Y11 students. They have worked so hard for these great outcomes and today we celebrate their success and all the different paths they take into their futures. We are grateful for HSS families for working with us tirelessly supporting these wonderful young people’.

Headteacher Claire Tasker commented ‘We are a big school; we are a very full and busy school and staff have worked so hard to ensure all the disruption and challenges of the past few years have not derailed us. This group of Year 11 students have been an absolute joy. I am bursting with happiness to see them all celebrating today’.
