High Storrs Dance

Another year of HSD thriving both in school and nationally. High Storrs dance company has continued to build on its excellent reputation when the company were invited to perform their new piece ‘A Letter from Yemi’ on two different dance platforms, Northampton School of Boys at Junction 19 festival and at FRESH festival in Doncaster. The Year 12 dance cohort went on a London residential where the dancers were involved in Bob Fosse and lyrical contemporary workshops.

Also, I would like to highlight the fantastic talent we have in KS3. A duet and quartet will be showcased in tonight’s showcase after successfully winning the High Storrs Dance Competition.

BOYS DiME

After a successful audition, 19 boys from across Sheffield were selected to join the first ever BOYS DiME. The company rehearsed once a week on a piece called ‘Just US’, which was a collaboration between the dancers and Sean Selby with the movement content being inspired by how dance makes us feel. The company was fortunate enough to perform and premiere their work at Phoenix Dance Company Yorkshire Youth Dance Platform, which was an incredible experience and the culmination of all of their hard work, commitment and passion.  

Following this, the project was featured live on BBC Look North, as well as BBC Radio Sheffield, and have since had over 210,000 views and 40,000 shares on social media.
