Exam Results 2022

A Level Results 2022

Hard work, determination and dedication has really paid off for our Y13 students at High Storrs School!  The results are fantastic – 44% of all grades achieved are A* or A and 69% of all grades achieved are A*to B.  Indeed 27 students at High Storrs achieved two or more A* grades.  In the context of a pandemic and uncertainty about exams, our students have really shown how focused and tenacious they can be and fully deserve to celebrate their hard-earned success today.

Headteacher Claire Tasker commented ‘We have always worked with our students to keep them focused on what they can do to achieve their best rather than allowing the disruption of the past couple of years to over-shadow them. They all have the capacity to work hard and determine their futures.  That is not to say there have not been challenges - lockdowns, no formal GCSE examinations, self-isolation, advanced information and more – but their engagement and commitment has led to fantastic outcomes. We are so proud’

Students at High Storrs achieved grades in 25 A level subjects and EPQ.  The choice of A levels is very wide and includes subjects not widely on offer across the country such as Classics.  The Sixth Form also has students taking Theatre Studies, Music, Art and Dance in greater numbers that other centres.  A whopping 40 students achieved A* or A in these four creative subjects.  But equally High Storrs was thrilled to celebrate 67 top grades in Maths, Further Maths, Physics, Chemistry and Biology.

Director of Sixth Form, Laura Newell said, ‘what has given us even more cause for celebration is that students from all starting points have achieved excellent outcomes. This means they have also secured a wide range of exciting destinations’.

GCSE Results 2022

On GCSE results day, 239 students collected a total of 1671 GCSE results – and their results were great. There is much to celebrate!  A whopping 93% of students achieved 8 or more GCSE passes and 91% of students achieved a grade 4 or higher in both GCSE English and Maths (key grades to secure their next steps).  Over three quarters of High Storrs students achieved at least a grade 5 in both English and Maths.

There was so much success to celebrate for all our students.  79 students achieved at least one grade 9 and 42 students achieved all grade 7-9s!  21 students achieved all grade 8s and 9s and 7 students achieved all grade 9s!

Headteacher, Claire Tasker said ‘This is the first group of students to sit external examinations for two years and they have done so well despite all the uncertainty and upheaval of the last two years.  Undeterred by the disruption this wonderful year group have shown that positivity and tenacity lead to great results. I am so proud of them’

She added ‘Our curriculum structure has really helped students too. To ensure we can offer a wide range of option subjects - including Dance GCSE, Classics GCSE, Sociology GCSE, Music GCSE and more – we have many one-year GCSE courses with groups made up of Y10s and Y11s.  This always has benefits but for this group of students it has meant their outcomes in these courses were not affected by the school closures and online learning in Y10.’

It was also a welcome sight to see students all arriving to collect their results in person after two years of very different arrangements.  Nothing beats a crowded hall and the noisy shrieks of joy on exam results day.
