This first Headteacher’s blog of the new school year is simply the two press releases we shared after A Level and GCSE results. WE are so proud of our HSS students and their success.
High Storrs Celebrates Outstanding A-Level Results: A Testament to Hard Work and Exceptional Support.
High Storrs is thrilled to announce another year of outstanding A-Level results, reflecting the dedication, resilience, and hard work of our students, supported by the exceptional guidance and commitment of our teaching staff.
Dr Claire Tasker, Headteacher, expressed immense pride in the students’ achievements: “We are incredibly proud of our students and the strong results they have achieved. These results are not just numbers on a page; they represent years of hard work, dedication, and resilience. Our students have shown that with determination and the right support, anything is possible.”
The results highlight a number of significant achievements:
– 33% of students achieved grades A*-A
– 67% of students achieved grades A*-B
-Average grade of a B and average point score of 39.52
– 51 students achieved at least one A* grade (nearly a quarter of our cohort), 26 students achieved
at least two A* grades and 12 students achieved all A* grades.
– students achieved strong results across our wide curriculum offer of 27 subjects including particularly excellent outcomes in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Biology and English Literature.
These outstanding results would not have been possible without the unwavering support and commitment of our teachers. Their passion for education and dedication to each student’s success have been integral to these achievements. The teachers at High Storrs School have gone above and beyond, creating a learning environment that has empowered our students to excel.

As our students prepare to take their next steps—whether that be continuing their education at university, starting apprenticeships, or entering the workforce—we are confident that the skills, knowledge, and resilience they have developed during their time at High Storrs School will serve them well in their future endeavours.

High Storrs School Celebrates Another Exceptional Year of GCSE Results. Hats off to the class of 2024!
We are thrilled to announce that our students have once again achieved an exceptional set of GCSE results, demonstrating not only their academic brilliance but also their resilience, creativity, and well-rounded character.
This year’s cohort is particularly special. Having faced significant disruptions to their education during Years 7 and 8 due to the pandemic, our students missed some key building blocks of their learning. Despite these setbacks, they have worked tirelessly, supported by our dedicated staff, to overcome these challenges and achieve academic success.
We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to all our staff, who have worked so hard alongside our students right up to the day of each and every exam (and beyond). Their dedication and passion for education have played a crucial role in helping our students achieve these fantastic results.
The results highlight a number of significant achievements:
• 89% of students achieved at least a grade 4 in English and Maths
• 79% of students achieved at least a grade 5 in English and Maths
• Over a quarter of all grades achieved were grade 8 or 9
• 45% of all grades achieved were grades 7, 8 or 9
• Some spectacular individual performances by students from all starting points
including some particularly high grades in the Sciences, Dance, Latin, Computer Science
and Psychology.
Director of Key Stage 4, Tom Highnett commented,
“Today is a day of well-earned celebration for our wonderful Y11 students. It is a great privilege to share in the success of our young people and we will look forward to hearing about the next steps ahead. We remain hugely grateful to our wonderful community and thank them for their tireless support.”
