Y8, Luke, Meets the England Football Team

Luke, Y8

Last Sunday I got the chance to visit St George’s Park in Staffordshire, the official training facility of the England football teams. St George’s Park is a large modern complex with many different types of football pitch with 3G and futsal indoor pitches, as well as 13 full size grass pitches, including a replica of the Wembley surface. The whole complex cost £105million to build.

Training

We were greeted by a lady from the FA, called Zara. She took us to a room where all the other guests of the England sponsors had gathered. We were given free bacon sandwiches! We then walked past Gareth Southgate’s office on the way to the pitch. The England players were warming up and doing drills. We watched them train for about an hour. Towards the end, Fabian Delph scored and all the players piled on top of him!

Autographs and Photos

After that the players lined up and for photos and autographs. I got my photo with the manager and most of the players and they all signed my world cup football. I met Dele Ali, Gareth Southgate, Raheem Sterling, Nick Pope and Kyle Walker. Zara make an Instagram story about my day and it was uploaded onto the Lidl page (they are the official supermarket for the England team).

I had an amazing day - thanks to High Storrs, Lidl and the FA for this brilliant raffle prize. It was an experience I will always remember.
